Background:

As I have mentioned before, I have been frequently travelling between India and Finland due to my work. I am very fortunate to witness one of the most interesting phenomena in nature, that is, birds transmigrating from arctic region to tropical region during winter in search of better habitat. These migratory birds have to cover thousands of kilometers, by moving from one part of earth to another.

Most interestingly, some of the species of birds, migrate to same place in tropical region. And they return back to their original habitat in spring, for many generations.

On doing some research, I came to know that there are certain species of birds that fly from northern Europe, Russia towards Asia and they have to cross Himalayas in order to reach a habitual place to spend their winters. In particularly, there is a small town in norther part of India where villagers, who are mostly farmers, store some amount of grains to feed and welcome these beautiful visitors. And this has been happening for many years. This creates a unique bond between human and birds.

 

I was touched by thinking about the kind of hardship these birds go through and such a level of navigation skills they possess. Equally the village’s gesture towards the bird is really admirable.

 

This observation and some research gave me the base to build an animated and fictitious story using birds as the main character. Where, their journey, current social construct and blend of thoughts, gave birth to a fresh story : The Courage of the mighty. And it's content could be characterized as a satire, light comedy carrying a strong social message. The story has been designed in such a way, that it moves with brisk pace, where the audience laugh and feel motivated and are held till it's end.

It took me many years to finalize this content. I also took feedback from my intellectual circle and kept refining the story.
